Paratopia

Commissioned by DanceWorks and premiered in 2015, this performance piece explores an alternate reality through dance and music, combining the languages of Kathak dance, Indian tabla rhythms, contemporary movement and beatboxing. Inspired by the Matrix movies, Paratopia connotes innovation and synthesis -- envisioning an alternate world and a future of dance and music that move beyond time and space. 

In 2024-25 Pratibha Arts is producing the next avatar of this project drawing on the history of South Asian dance in Newfoundland with 'Paratopia (Reloaded)' - to be premiered and co-presented with support from Neighbourhood Dance Works (NL), Live Art Dance (Halifax) and IMPACTFest (NB) - stay tuned for exciting updates coming soon!
